Visa isn’t just four letters on a card, it’s millions of human stories across the globe. Unique, personal, stories of resilience and grit, the sum of which connect our world.

They were looking for a way to showcase some of these stories and build pride in the work that they do. They wanted to do this during the longest stretch of lockdown of the covid pandemic when traveling was impossible.

I landed on a style that would keep crews slim and could be used in a multitude of ways. Telling the story through still images. The still images brought an intimacy uncommon in videos about financial products. It felt like looking through someone’s photo album as they tell their story.

After directing the shoot in Guatemala remotely from San Francisco I took the images from our small crew to craft a story of a woman’s struggle to save her business and family during covid shutdown that was powerful, engaging and universal.
